Not for learning purposes

This book skims over topics without a good insight over what is being discussed. The reading is quite difficult to grasp without a sufficient background in mathematics, like trigonometry or linear algebra. I found numerous mistakes and errors when doing problems, and the context of the book does not prepare the reader for some of the more complex problems that are given at the end of the chapter. The questions on the back do not start off with simple problems, and are usually found within the range of medium to very hard. I recommend buying another book, and coming back to this one just to do the problems.

a terrific little bargain

There are many larger, fatter and even better books on Rothko, but this little volume is pretty solid. At ten bucks, you shouldn't even wait for the second thought: it's a sure thing. It includes a wealth of color reproductions, and frankly their scale is surprisingly generous for a book of modest dimensions. Some are as large as the repros in all but the largest-format Rothko books. Taschen has wisely chosen to devote a full, text-less page to most of the canvases reprinted here, and the photography is fine and sensitive. Good quality photos like these reveal nuances that make the photos effectively "larger".
The text covers Rothko's life and analyzes his thought, innovations and development through abundant quotations and sound analysis. There's unusually full exploration of his early work, and a good chapter on his symbolist-surrealist myth-paintings (though I miss seing "Slow Swirl by the Edge of the Sea.") The book also includes a few works by other artists where appropriate (as in the reprint of a Matisse painting that Rothko answered with his "Hommage to Matisse"). It's a complete yet efficient book, as are most of the titles in this series.
My sole important reservation about the book concerns the minimal coverage of the essential "multiform" period of Rothko's work--only three or so examples appear here. That's an important failing, but not enough to dull my overall enthusiasm.

I'm 32 (and a teacher) and LOVED THIS BOOK!!!

This review will not spoil anything for you if you read it all. What an amazing story this was!! I was reading it in hopes to find more novels to read aloud to my third graders. I was amazed at how well the author put this story together for kids to read from 4 different points of view. THAT right there was a plus for me from the get go. Then, it just simply kept getting better and better. As long as it is, there were no dry areas. It kept me going. From the detailed character descriptions, dialogue, and the overall connections between them, you really feel as if you KNEW them. They are your friends! The connections between the characters was so unique and so beautifully written that even I was crying with tears of happiness in the end. The author mentions something a couple times throughout the book that had me asking myself if that was meant to symbolize something. And I was right! Which was why I cried in the end. The moral of the story is one I personally will never forget. Almost life changing actually. Also, I must point out that even as an adult, this book has a few twists that had me fly right off my seat saying, "Whaaaaaaat! WOW!" Got to love a book with more than one unpredicted twist! LOVE LOVE LOVE this book! I have now made this book the main driving point for the Module A in my ELA block for teaching character development and sequence of events. Thank you Wendy Mass for writing such a wonderful novel that even adults can fall in love with.

Kids loved it.

I used this book in my class for grades 5-7. When they first received it they looked terrified at how thick it was! It was our third book and by far the thickest book we have read so far. But, those fearful glances faded fast. They enthusiastically read the book and got more and more excited as it went. Along with the normal literature guidelines, go beyond and bring the book to life by doing activities such as creating your own advertisements for your made up candy, doing a flavor taste test while learning about the different taste buds you have, and making candy in class!

This is a very good book!

Usually books are written from one perspective, and you only know one person's thoughts and feelings. But in this book, you can know everyone's thoughts. It is surprising when you only read one person's thoughts, some people is really annoying, but when you read that person's thoughts, they have a reason why they act like that. This book is very enjoyable, especially the details. It is unbelievable how at first, everyone seems not to know each other, but it all connects together. There are four children, Logan, Miles, Daisy and Philip. They entered a candy making contest, where they have to each make a new type of candy in a candy factory named Life Is Sweet. There is also 28 other contestants at other candy factories. They entered the contest for different reasons, just to win, revenge, and even trying to steal a secret candy ingredient. But of course, they found out and listened to everyone's reasons. In the end, they all worked on Philip's candy because they need to protect the factory. I really suggest this book, I hope this helped you.

Well Worth my Time and Money!

Okay, so I picked this up because my time management skills are a mess (maybe I should spent less time reading, lol)! I only managed to get through Grad School by making a daily list and then doing my best to get everything done before I collapsed from exhaustion at the end of the day. I rarely succeeded. So it was in the spirit of ″Help Me!″ that I downloaded this ebook. And I'm really glad I did! It was obvious just by how the book is structured that Michael is a very organized person. The book starts out with quotations about time management from a variety of sources, from Stephen Covey to Hugh Jackman. Michael then offers incisive analysis from his own experience before moving to the meat of showing you how to get a better handle on your time.

While the entire book was full of excellent insight and tips for time management, I found chapter 11 (Time Saving Tips) especially helpful. The first tip, ″listen to what is being said″ seems obvious, but it's actually easy to forget, especially when you are feeling stressed out. For example, I was seeing a movie with a friend and because I was stressing about getting the appointment into my calendar, I ended up hearing and writing in the wrong time, making myself a half hour late for our meeting. Thankfully we live in a time of cell-phones, but I was still late, and that meant that we missed the first five minutes of the movie. Worse, the stress of being late, making my friend late, and having to rush really put a pallor on the whole experience. Now I'm taking the time to listen carefully, so as to save myself time and stress in the long run. The rest of the chapter also is really helping me streamline my life.

In short, this book is well organized, clearly written, and offers a ton of useful information about how to manage your time. Well worth my time and money :)

Absolute Necessity to Keep Sane!

I have been sort of a time management junky the last few years and read all the books even paid thousands for time management seminars, but this one after reading it time and time again I continue to pick up great techniques and tips that have seriously reduced stress in my life and allowed me to get way more done. I really can say this book has changed my life in more ways than one so would recommend it to you if your wanting to get more time and do whats really important to you.

The book starts off well but somewhere down the line...misses out on the edits... lot of repetitive stuff and loads of grammatical mistakes...as if mid-way the check on the work stops!!! Loved the first part of the book though!!!

The real deal: A clear roadmap to writing an ebook

It's an exciting time as Amazon.com and others have disrupted the publishing and book distribution industries, which has allowed many to bypass traditional gatekeepers. It harkens back to earlier times when small printing houses produced pamphlets and leaflets that informed and stirred the masses. Now, that power is available to everyone. However, this has also allowed more derivative and sub-par works to appear on digital bookshelves. A few "authors" may not care, but many more authors and would-be authors would appreciate some guidance.

A worthy addition to an author's toolkit is How to Write Nonfiction eBooks by Henri Junttila, the publisher of WakeUpCould.com, the architect/mentor of the Lifestyle Liberation Academy, and the author of five ebooks. He shares knowledge gleaned from his experiences to guide authors, especially new ones, toward getting an ebook written, published and sold. He will be the first to tell you that it is not easy, but it is also not impossible if you follow the steps he lays out.

A characteristic that distinguishes Henri's books is their structure. They are laid out to maximize comprehension and to induce action and he does it here through 17 chapters that lead the reader through several distinct phases from generating the topic to selling the completed book. Honest, Step-by-Step Advice from an Expert Who Is on Your Side

I came across Henri Junttila a couple of years ago and really liked his writing. I've followed his writing ever since, and I've read all his books on Amazon. I like everything he writes -- How to Write Non-fiction eBooks might be my favorite -- and I like all his books for the same reasons:

1. He gives you honest information that works, and it's based on his own experience
2. His focus is on delivering the goods to you -- not on himself at all
3. He communicates in an easy-to-understand, easy-to-follow way which is so helpful, especially for beginners

All of these things are obvious in this ebook. In fact, this book is accompanied with a workbook that will help you even more. It breaks down the steps even further. Reading this book is like having a friend who has your best interests at heart standing by your side as you are writing your own book.

I love the way the information is presented. Simple, step by step hand holding through the process of how to write. I'm not a writer, or so I thought until reading this e-book. My personality type suggested I have natural gift of writing, however I didn't see it until reading his creative process of how he created his books. Now I can see why I maybe classed as a natural writer, due to my communication abilities. Thanks for helping wake me up because I'm one who understand your creative thoughts. best book in the series!.... so far

This one surprised me as the tapestry of Sherman's cruel work is further revealed. It had all the components of a Barton book... The strong magic woman/warrior and their vampire mate work out their power dynamic to find their way to each other. Yet, it was the storyline and the character of Zane herself that was incredibly compelling. I felt just like the Pixie she saves at the end of the book that doesn't want to leave her side because there was just so much more to discover. This character could have a spin-off series herself as she starts to create an identity in connection to herself and others much like J.D. Robb (aka Nora Roberts) does with the incredible compelling character of Eve Dallas. A product of very cruel and inhumane labs established by Sherman, Zane's abilities as an immortal are limitless but it is her spirit that ultimately survives the horrors of this environment and soars. This book establishes the beginning of Zane's journey but I couldn't help but want to go on the ride with her.

Each book is better the last!

One of the things I love about this series is the inclusion of previous lead characters in the story line...they are not just footnotes but a vital part of the current storyline.

I have to say that even though Aiden & Tristan are brothers, they are very different. Zane is one of a kind within the female leads. Zane and Aiden are well matched in strengths and weaknesses. I love when two strong characters play off of one another!!

Another great installment in the Aaron kiss series. I love that Kathi always writes such strong heroines that will do everything they can to protect the ones they care about. I highly recommend this book for those that love the world of vampires, shifters and otherworldly creatures. And of course if you like lots of love, great sex and tons of adventures this is the book for you.
