Buyer Beware

I must commend Jerry Winters on his book, "Learning Microstation VBA," which is fairly good: this book is chock full of information about programming for Microstation. Anyone who is curious about automating this software will become well-informed. However, Mr. Winters is not very good at imparting programming procedures using a step-by-step method. So, if you are an experienced programmer, you may forage through the pages of this book and find some joy in learning how to program. On the other hand, if you are a beginner or an intermediate level programmer, you will struggle with the information from the beginning pages. For example, on page 53 he states that one can load the `Draw' method from the CD which accompanies the book instead of writing the code; however, the he did not mention how to load the code in the middle of the programming lesson. All in all, this book is a very good reference book which, I suspect, when used in addition with other Microstation programming books, could be an asset in one's Microstation library.
